They say the kitchen is the heart of a home and in my home it’s the place we usually gather around to have conversations… and eat some good food.
Fixing the Dish was a food blog I put together back in 2016 when I was meal prepping for myself and two girl friends plus hosting dinner parties constantly. The girls would always ask for the recipes I would create for them and it was easier to have them all stored in one place. There was only one problem… I don’t measure anything when I cook.
I promise that I’ve gotten better in the last 5 years, but for the most part, the recipes I share will be recipes passed down by family or created off the top of my head with ingredients I have in my kitchen. They just won’t always have the exact measurements, so bear with me. In fact, I might say “a dash of this and a pinch of that” and hope that you taste as you cook and adjust to your liking.
If you didn’t learn how to make banana bread, dalgona whipped coffee, or grow your own veggies did you even quarantine?
2020 is a year we all won’t forget. It was either rough on your mental health or rough on your waistline but in general it wasn’t the greatest. I worked from home for a year and a half and to not lose my mind I got into gardening. I never thought it would be as rewarding and relaxing as it’s been but I’ve also had to do tons and tons of research and gained more wisdom than I expected.
I’m combining both things with the occasional DIY Home Project to inspire you and bring Fixing the Dish back up again. I’ll use this blog to share recipes and teach you about companion plants, the zone we live in, what you can plant each month and a few more things on tending to a small backyard garden that you can eat from.
Meet me in the kitchen… or in the garden!
